Stained Water
04:25
|
|||
I went down to the river,
to wash my face by the bank.
Stained brown by the leaves,
their oils dissolve in the water.
His face was accusing,
it has pierced through my memories.
I'm not sure what has happened,
something has taken my mind.
It's never what I think it is
Stained water will wash away,
the dirt that has gathered here,
gum oil and an accusing face,
all mix in the river now.
I say that I'm sorry,
for the gap in my memory
I fell asleep on the bus,
and my dreams make me anxious.
And the devils they know this,
the dreams sit tight on my chest,
something terrible's happened,
I put it out of my mind.
It's never what I think it is.
Stained water will wash away,
the dirt that has gathered here,
gum oil and an accusing face,
all mix in the river now.

Junkie walking through the twilight
I'm on my way home,
I left three days ago but no one seems to know I'm gone.
Home is where the hatred is and,
home is filled with pain,
might not be such a bad idea if i never went home again.
Stand as far from me as you can, ask me why.
Hang on to your rosary beads, close your eyes and watch me die.
Keep on saying kick it, quit it, kick it, quit it,
God but did you ever try
to turn your sick soul inside out,
so that the world can watch you die.
Home is where I live inside my white powder dream.
Home was once an empty vacuum, filled now with my silent screams.
Home is where the needle marks try to heal my broken heart.
Might not be such a bad idea if I never went home again.
Home again
Home again
Might not be such a bad idea.
Seems like I need to get out of here.

Drenched

When you can see
You see too far
White heat over the city and the sky.
i think I saw it too
when I climbed the hill
sunlight drenched over birds as they sing.
And when they do sing
they sing about death,
and big questions relating to their lives.
I saw all that as you once did,
but now I'm thinking so small.
Yes you did see what it looks like
when the gears all grind to a halt
when there's too many knocks at the door,
when fear drives them to take what's theirs.
All that I fear is I can't see you
past the collapse of all that we knew.
A time of murder draws to a close,
but I don't know if you will survive.
We're so small, with such thin skin.
Sure can't survive an ICBM.
I know you, I know that you wont
protect yourself if it means
you can't help
but please dig deep, dig deeper still
I want to see you,
when it is done
when it is done
when it is done.

Auckland Seems So Far

I'd gladly play second fiddle when your album comes
but then Auckland seems so far.
But then Auckland seems so far.
You'll always be leaving tomorrow.
I'd gladly play second fiddle when your album comes.
When your album comes.
But then Auckland seems so far.
